An access log is a thorough list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a given website. Any file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have a single page with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log normally provides the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Sometimes you may also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your website. The data which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format.
